FRIDAY, OCTOBER

Had
breakfast with the crew of Sundowner right there at the marina. Was nice to catch up with them. They came in late the night before and we
didn’t have much of a chance to chat. Kind of got used to have these guys around and were missing their smiling faces!
I also caught a pic of the 2 Johns next to the "john"! Couldn't resist even though my John tends to call port-a-pottys Bob's or Ron's or anything but a "john".
Then it was
time for us to move to Kentucky Dam Marina.
Unfortunately it was raining but we were motivated to make the
move. They had our refrigerator part
waiting there! We made a quick stop at
the fuel dock for services and said goodbye to some of the Loopers. From this point we suspect that many of us
will go in different directions. Had a
quick picture taken with Kathy and Tim of Sea Fever who are from St. Paul,
MN.
We met them the first time in
Grafton during Loopr docktails and have been travelling with them the last couple of nights. We were amazed when we got an
email from our friend Chris Kirby who lives in MN. He said that he works with a guy whose
friends were also doing the Loop. I
guess he and Chris have been watching the blogs of both of our boats when Chris’s
friend noticed a picture of the Sea Fever crew on one of our Grafton
posts. They could not believe we had met
each other let alone were actually travelling together! Kind of a neat coincidence. The world is truly sometimes a very small
place!
Got into our slip at Kentucky Dam. This is a houseboat marina almost exclusively. We were the only transient boat and while their facilities aren't as nice as Green Turtle, they have everything we need and it is quiet. Neptune even greeted us as we got off the boat!
Our friends
from TN, Becky and Jimmy rented a 2BR cabin at Kentucky Dam State Park and they
actually beat us there and were standing at the dock as we pulled in. We are
going to take Molly and get off the boat for a couple of nights and stay with
them. When we checked in, they had our
refrigerator part - yay! As anxious as we were
to get the refrigerator running, John decided to wait a day to install the new
controller board. He said there was no reason to ruin a lovely day in case it didn’t work and it was time for shore leave for the crew of
Free Bird. We gathered our things
together and over to the cabin we go. The
rain had gone and it had turned into a bright and sunny day. It was about a 2 minute drive which was
great. Got settled in and enjoyed
sitting on the porch and catching up.
There was a golf course just down the street and we took a nice walk
down there. Had reservations for dinner
at Patti’s 1880 Settlement Inn at 6:30.
Really neat place and lots of food, good food. Took our own bottles of wine and sat back and
enjoyed our meal. Next thing we know
here comes the crews of Estrellita, Perfect Balance, Seamont and
Priorities! Every time we say goodbye to
these folks they pop up again. They
probably think the same thing about us! They
all came in and said hello…and goodbye again - how fun!
We were so
full that all we could do is go back to the cabin and drop. Tomorrow is another day as they say!
